Greenpeace Counts Down to Copenhagen Climate Conference with LED Artist’s MIST display

Europe, June 2009 - Over a 12 day period in December 2009, Copenhagen will host the United Nations Climate Change Conference, at which ministers and officials from the 192 UN member states, plus representatives from a large number of interested organisations, will discuss all aspects of climate change.

To raise awareness of the importance of the conference - and of the issue of climate change in general - international pressure group Greenpeace has invited LED media design company LED Artist to be its artistic partner in establishing an iconic Countdown Clock, to be displayed in various public areas in Hong Kong.

Designed to serve as a reminder to both the Hong Kong government and general public that there is an ongoing race against time to combat climate change, the Countdown Clock comprises one of LED Artist’s iconic Multimedia Information Systems Tower (MIST) systems, depicted emerging from a three-dimensional model of an iceberg.

As well as the countdown clock itself, the MIST display will also show a slide show of global climate change effects, particularly the Arctic.

Designed by LED Artist Chief Vision Officer Teddy Lo and fully supported by LED screen manufacturer Lighthouse Technologies, the award-winning MIST is a versatile ‘beacon’ featuring cutting edge Lighthouse 6mm LED display technology (R6). It can project static and moving multimedia information, applications and network facilities. The R6 panels provide exceptional clarity, even when viewed at very close range, and have a wide viewing angle to maximise the display’s impact.

The launch ceremony for the installation took place at the retail East Point City in Tseung Kwan O, Hong Kong on 28th May. The MIST will then be placed in a variety of prominent public locations throughout Hong Kong until 7th December, when the Copenhagen Climate Conference begins.

“It is our honor to be able to collaborate with GREEN PEACE on this meaningful project. We at LEDARTIST, in pursuit of more efficient and visually dynamic communications in the new era, have made a commitment to being environmentally conscious and embodying this mentality into our working code”.
