A RIP-ROARING RIDE FOR XTA

The beach babes and surf dudes were out in force for Rip Curl Boardmasters, held in Newquay on the Cornish coast at the beginning of August. Billed as Europe’s biggest action sports and music festival, the fun included Beach Sessions each night leading up to Rizla Unleashed on the Friday and Saturday nights where Feeder and Starsailor headlined with support acts including The Automatic, Graham Coxon, Nerina Pallot, Breaks Co-Op and ALO (Animal Liberation Orchestra).

Top audio rental company Concert Sound provided the audio requirements with XTA digital signal processing in full control.

The system comprised 24 Adamson Y10 cabinets with six Adamson Spektrix underhangs, eight T21 subs and four M15s as front fills all driven by 32 FP6400 Lab.Gruppen amplifiers whilst on stage Concert Sound 18 inch wedges and EAW sidefills were driven by Lab.Gruppen FP34 and 2400s.

“We had an XTA DP428 to provide main EQ and distribution for the entire system as well as one controlling the monitor setup,” explains Concert Sound’s Andy Davies. “We used six DP226s as crossovers for the Y10s and Spektrix and set up was completed using XTA Walkabout WiFi control. EQ was via XTA GQ600s and we also had a SiDD for limiting and compression to make sure we met all the relevant noise regulations for the site.

“Now that AudioCore fully supports the 4 Series we’re delighted to be making full use of all the features that the DP428 has, particularly its improved EQing and the flexibility of patching and routing.”
