Date: August 2006 INSTALLATION DOUBLE FOR XTA IN KOREA Jangan Hall, located in Korea’s Suwon City, is a 544-seat facility designed to provide a venue for cultural events and entertainment for the inhabitants of Jang-an district. It has undergone a recent refurbishment, which includes the installation of a substantial new sound system, including a 5.1 surround system in the Hannuri Art Hall for both live music and cinema, and features XTA digital signal processing throughout. AVIX TECH, XTA’s South Korean distributor, has supplied three XTA DP448s which control a Meyer Sound loudspeaker system, with four XTA GQ600s dual 30-band graphics ensuring perfect EQ throughout the facility. “We had a clear specification for the system from the customer,” comments Steve Kim of XTA’s Korean distributor AvixTech. “JangAn Hall is a real multi-purpose venue. It will host performing arts, rock music and act as a convention centre, so it is important to have a flexible system.” The combination of Meyer Sound CQ2, CQ1, PSW2 and 14 UPM-1P, controlled via three XTA DP448s provides all the configurations required by the Hall. “We can show what a great combination it is to have a system like this, and it takes very little time to learn how to operate it,” continues Kim. “The XTA units are very simple and all the engineers and sound team like this very much. “The specification included graphic equalisers and again, the user was more than happy with the XTA GQ600 units. We have eight channels in the Hall. With the XTAs, it makes it so easy to fulfil what a demanding customer wants!” Mr. Moon Soo Park, who previously spent five years as a sound engineer at the Seoul Amusement Park, is resident director of the Hannuri Art Hall. He has many years experience with XTA products and places heavy reliance upon their quality and operational stability. “I’m familiar with the function of AudioCore and it has been very useful to me,” he adds. Meanwhile, LIG Insurance Co., Ltd., established in 1959 and a leading insurer within Korea, boasts an extensive business network comprising of 56 branches, 298 sub-branches and about 7,000 agencies throughout the country. LIG Insurance recently constructed a new 19-floor business building in Kangnam District of Seoul. Contained within this new-build is the 260-seater LIG Art Centre, which will be used not only for cultural events such as concerts, theatre, dance and yoga, but also as a seminar and conference facility. Once again, AVIX TECH has supplied a remarkable sound solution based around a Meyer Sound loudspeaker system controlled by XTA DP448, DP226 and DP224s processors. Mr. Bum Jin Park, resident director of the LIG Art Center, gained his experience as assistant sound engineer at Seoul Arts Center, Korea's first and foremost complex exclusively dedicated to cultural and artistic events. Here he first came across XTA products, but despite this experience, his first use of AudioCore was at the grand opening of the LIG Art Centre. However, he has found the programme extremely easy to use and says that he is already accustomed to both the software and the wireless Walkabout Kit, which he has found to be a very convenient way of working. “XTA products are easy to control and steady in operation,” concludes Edward Shim Manager of the International Business Department at AVIX TECH. “This means that they are the market’s processor of choice for line array and distributed systems here in Korea.” [ENDS] Picture caption: Moonsoo Shin, House Engineer of Jangang Hall, next to the control rack.
